We’ve all seen that person that went on the latest fad diet and lost weight way too fast by binging on abstinence from food…not good as the result was that hollow- eyed look accompanied with loose skin over their entire body…not a pretty sight! What happened here? Along with their body fat they also lost valuable muscle tissue!
THIS IS WHY YOU CAN STILL EAT AND LOSE WEIGHT PROPERLY AT THE SAME TIME…AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO EAT JUST TREE BARK!
What happens to a campfire when you quit throwing logs on it?
It’s time to plop into your sleeping bag for the night but the next morning finds that roaring campfire now just a pile of slow burning smoldering coals…barely alive. You throw on another log and again you have a roaring blaze.
Just like that campfire; our body’s metabolism works nonstop around the clock, burning fuel in the form of energy even as we sleep. Once its fuel supply is burned up then it begins reaching for anything it can just to stay alive until more fuel arrives. This is where the problem of starving yourself begins. If your body has no fuel; it begins burning valuable muscle tissue…or putting you in a light form of ketosis by basically eating itself.
EVEN IN A WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU KEEP YOUR BODY IN AN ANABOLIC STATE AS OPPOSED TO CATABOLIC
Anabolic simply means to keep your body in a growth stage instead of a catabolic state, meaning to injest or implode from within. Put down your pad and pencil because notetaking is not necessary. You don’t have to remember those two words if you’ll remember this:
AS USUAL, YOUR MOM WAS RIGHT! EAT YOUR VEGGIES AND PLENTY OF ‘UM!
Thinking back you see why your mom was always right…even when she told you to be sure and take an aspirin along with you on a date. If you don’t remember the reason just ask some of your friends. I’m sure somebody will remember the answer. Getting back to veggies! Vegetables are fantastic foods! They’re not only full of great complex carbs but also contain valuable micro nutrients (trace minerals) such as iron, potassium, etc. They are also filling and can be made into some of your favorite dishes. You can fuel your body all day long with them and still lose body fat while retaining valuable muscle. Also don’t forget about adding some complete proteins to your foods; as well as a small amount of good fats. Eating fats doesn’t make you fat. Eating donuts makes you fat!
The bottom line is … to lose weight properly you must also eat properly. Don’t forget there are six pieces to the weight loss and fitness puzzle. They are self-visualization, keeping a clear and uncluttered head (mind), proper sleep, proper nutrition, proper exercise and leading a balanced life. Each one carries equal importance and leaving even one out may cause your fitness journey may fail!
