Okay, so I can’t count! If you add the ‘S’, carbs has five letters. Either way, fats and carbs are good and necessary for our health, and here’s why: Everything I’ve ever written about health is usually because I found it out by doing it myself…always second guessing most authors of articles in some of the fitness magazines.
FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE …
Training with weights and trying to eat correctly has proven that fats and complex carbs ARE NECESSARY for sustained health, leveling our energy throughout the day and for losing fat, again, here’s why:
Energy is first stored in fats. It’s from this source that motion (in the form of exercise) first goes after these calories …second are carbs, then proteins. If you have no stored fats your carbs can be totally consumed. Is that good or bad
Read on! I’ll let you make that decision…
Many of us have seen someone that went on one of those trendy diets and lost their weight way too fast, leaving an extremely gaunt face with sunken eyes and loose skin over their entire body…not a pretty sight. Their challenge was they lost valuable carbs and proteins along with their fat, also causing them to lose a fuller figure, as well as, valuable muscle tissue, required for aesthetics as well as overall health. This is when it becomes a matter of choice. Not discounting either; would you rather have the body of someone that bikes 20 miles each day…eats only enough to sustain their energy, or the body of someone like Jennifer Aniston?
IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT THE PROPER WAY THEN EAT…THAT’S RIGHT! …I SAID ‘EAT’ AND EAT A LOT!
WITHOUT FUEL TO BURN OUR BODIES METABOLISM SLOWS TO A CRAWL …but you have to eat the right stuff!
Our moms were right when they said “Eat your veggies!” Vegetables are an excellent source of complex carbs and also contain valuable micronutrients which aid in overall health. A great source of fats are nuts…walnuts are great! Proteins can come from meats, fish, plants, dairy (including whey). Whey Protein Isolate is one of the fastest acting proteins I’ve ever come across.
The bottom line is life is made to enjoy. Give it balance by giving it the correct foods. After a hard week of training it’s also good to enjoy some of your favorite foods…pizza, ice cream, etc…just remember the word ‘Moderation’! Keep life fun by keeping life fit!
Until next time…and as usual:
KEEP THE PEACE…KEEP THE FAITH… and I’ll see you at the gym!
